FAQs
Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to stay in my home while gas work is carried out?
Yes, in all cases you are safe to remain in your home while gas work is carried out. If we identify an unsafe appliance, we will discuss your options and recommend either a repair or replacement.
Should you decide not to proceed, we will cap it off and disconnect it to ensure your home remains safe before we leave.
Do you supply parts, or do I need to source them myself?
In most cases we’ll supply the parts needed for the job, sourcing quality components on your behalf. If you have a specific product in mind, such as a particular tap or shower unit, we’re happy to fit parts you’ve supplied yourself, though we’d always request discussing this beforehand so we can advise on suitability and compatibility.
Do you charge a call out fee?
Yes, we charge a call out fee when we attend to carry out work, however this is included within the fixed price we agree with you on arrival. You will not be charged the call out fee on top of the job cost. Parts are quoted separately and agreed before any work begins. Please note that we do not charge a call out fee for estimates or quotes where no work is carried out.
Can you give me a price before you start work?
Where we have details of the issue, we will provide a fixed price before any work begins so you know exactly what you are committing to.
For smaller jobs, we will give you a realistic estimate upfront based on experience, so if we think it’s likely to be a washer or valve change, we’ll tell you what to expect before we arrive.
For more complex faults where the full scope isn’t clear, we’ll agree an approach with you first before any work begins.
Either way, we will always be transparent about costs before any work begins, whether that’s a fixed price, an upfront estimate, or a diagnostic fee followed by a full quote once we know exactly what we’re working with.
How long will the job take?
Every job is different and timescales can vary depending on the complexity of the work and what we find once we get started. Smaller jobs are often completed quickly, but factors such as the age of the property, accessibility and the condition of existing pipework and fittings can all affect how long a job takes. We will always give you an honest assessment of the likely timeframe before we begin and keep you informed if anything changes once work is underway.
Can you carry out a gas safety inspection?
Yes, we carry out gas safety inspections as a standalone service.
Our inspection covers all gas appliances and pipework in your home, checking that everything is operating safely and to the required standard.
For landlords, we can also issue a Gas Safety Certificate (CP12), which is a legal requirement for all rental properties
